The Legendary “Sword of Saint Michael”

About Saint Michael the Archangel:

Saint Michael the Archangel is considered to be the guardian and protector of the Church.  He was the leader of God’s army during the uprising of Lucifer and is honored in not only Christianity but also Judaism and Islam. Saint Michael the Archangel is the patron of spiritual warfare, dying people, grocers, soldiers, fencing, banking, and artists.

St. Michael the Archangel’s feast day is September 29th.  This is now also known as the Feast of the Archangels, which includes Raphael and Gabriel in addition to Michael.

About “The Sword of Saint Michael”

The legendary “Sword of St. Michael,” an imaginary line linking seven monasteries…all dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel… stretching all the way from Ireland to Israel. Most of these shrines got their names due to reported apparitions of Saint Michael at their respective locations.  Some see this as a sign, referencing the battle between St. Michael and Satan.

You will find it called various names: Sword of St. Michael, Sacred Line of St. Michael or St. Michael’s Line. The most common appears to be the Sword of Saint Michael, which we have used here.
