Washington, D.C. "Rededicate 250: A National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise & Thanksgiving"

9:00 am - 6:00 pm

Although not strictlyy a Catholic event, "Rededicate 250: A National Jubilee of Prayer, Praise & Thanksgiving" is a major, faith-focused event scheduled for May 17, 2026, on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. emphasizing the fact that the U.S. was formmed as a Christian nation.

Part of the nation's 250th birthday celebration (America 250), this event is designed to mark a return to Judeo-Christian foundations by inviting Americans to "rededicate" the country to God.

Organizers seek to unite the country under a banner of faith, encouraging prayer for the nation’s future and gratitude for its history.

Activities include: Sunrise fellowship, music, prayer, and worship, aimed at fostering a "movement of renewal".

Promoted by the Trump administration and organized by Freedom 250, with planned participation from faith leaders, Christian artists like Chris Tomlin, and public officials

Secretary of StateMarco Rubio (Catholic), Secretary of War Pete Hegseth (member Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches), and Senator Mike Johnson (Southern Baptist) will speak at the event, which centers on the idea that the founders wanted the U.S. to be explicitly Christian.

The initiative aligns with a broader push to acknowledge America's religious roots ahead of its 250th anniversary on July 4, 2026.

Churches and groups are encouraged to register and join from their local communities.  A Church Engagement Toolkit is available to help local congregations participate.

The "America Prays" movement encourages one million Americans to pray for one hour weekly, often in groups of 10 or more. The event aims to serve as a moment of reflection and a "return to God," with organizers encouraging Americans to celebrate the country's heritage of prayer,
