Long before his cause was opened, Sheen prophesied that America needs a saint — an American saint. More than a saint who lived in America, Fulton Sheen was a saint formed by America—an Illinois farm boy who became a bishop, pioneering evangelist, and true Catholic American patriot, embodying the very saint he believed God was calling America to produce.

This is not a generic Catholic conference. It is a gathering of those who championed Sheen when his cause was buried, those who have suffered for the same convictions Sheen suffered for,--- who pray like Sheen, think like Sheen, and love like Sheen---those who are committed to rebuilding America and the Church the way Sheen did, and those desiring to become Sheen-like leaders.

The beatification of Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen was effectively “buried” — delayed indefinitely — because the Vatican paused his cause for sainthood in December 2019 after receiving a request from some U.S. bishops for a further investigation into his tenure as bishop of the Diocese of Rochester (1966–1969)

In 2014, the Vatican suspended the cause due to a conflict between the Diocese of Peoria (where Sheen was ordained) and the Archdiocese of New York (where he was buried) over his burial place. That dispute was resolved in 2019 when a New York State Court of Appeals sided with his niece, Joan Sheen Cunningham, who wanted him buried in Peoria.

His body was moved to Peoria on June 27, 2019, and the cause was re-opened.
