About the Basilica San Silvestro in Capite:

The minor Basilica of San Silvestro  is titular church in Rome dedicated to Pope Sylvester I, who is buried in the Catacombs of Priscilla. Built in Romanesque and Baroque style by architects Carlo Maderno and Francesco da Volterra. Architectural styles.

The Basilica hold the relics of Saint Tarsicius (Tarcisius), a martyr of the early Christian church who lived in the 3rd century. The little that is known about him comes from a metrical inscription by Pope Damasus I, who was pope in the second half of the 4th century.  Saint Tarsicius was born in Rome and died there in 275 AD.

The Basilica of San Silvestro in Capite has some excellent artwork as well as being beautiful in its own right.
