Feast of Saints Peter and Paul
These two men are honored together for their importance in spreading the Gospel.
Peter, one of the first twelve Apostles, was the first Bishop of Rome (and therefore the first Pope), and Paul, who once persecuted the Church and later became a Disciple, are two men who are perhaps most significant in spreading the growth of Christianity.
Many churches throughout the world are named after them....either together or separately. In Rome, of course, you will find the tomb of Saint Peter in Saint Peter's Basilica and also the tomb of Saint Paul in the Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls.
