About Bermuda:
Bermuda is the oldest self-governing Territory in the British Commonwealth. It is an archipelago of 7 main islands, known for their pink sand beaches and about 170 additional (named) islets and rocks, situated about 650 miles (1,050 km) east of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Despite its location in the North Atlantic, the temperatures are moderated by the Gulf Stream, so that daytime high temperatures average 65 degrees(F) in January, 71(F) in April, 84 degrees(F) in July, and 80 degrees(F) in October. June through August brings southerly breezes.
Its 1968 constitution provides the island with formal responsibility for internal self-government, while the British Government retains responsibility for external affairs, defense, and security. Its massive Royal Naval Dockyard complex combines modern attractions like the interactive Dolphin Quest with maritime history at the National Museum of Bermuda.
The majority of the population lives on the main island in either Hamilton or the capitol city of Saint George’s.
