Irving, Texas: Mater Dei Parish (Traditional Latin Mass)

About Mater Dei Parish in Irving, Texas:

Mater Dei Catholic Parish (also known as Mater Dei Latin Mass Parish) is a personal parish of the Catholic Diocese of Dallas in Irving, Texas, served by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter (FSSP). The FSSP (Priestly Fraternity of Saint Peter) was founded in 1988.

Their first North American apostolate began in Dallas in June 1991 as the Mater Dei Latin Mass Community. For many years it relied on locations such as the chapel of the Discalced Carmelite Nuns. In late 2009 the community acquired its own church building in Irving, and on Easter Sunday 2010, Bishop Kevin Farrell formally established it as Mater Dei Parish. It exclusively offers the Traditional Latin Mass (Extraordinary Form / usus antiquior of the Roman Rite, using the 1962 liturgical books) and sacraments.

It is the only parish in the Diocese of Dallas providing daily Traditional Latin Masses and serves the broader Dallas–Fort Worth metro area. It emphasizes modest dress and reverence. Visitors are welcome; red missalettes with Latin-English texts are available, and there is a cry room with video feed.

Confessions are typically available before/around many Masses (check the current bulletin). Sacred Heart Devotions occur on Fridays, with Benediction on certain Fridays.

The parish has a strong traditional Catholic community with ministries including a homeschool group, youth and young adult groups, St. Vincent de Paul Society, Legion of Mary, altar boys, music program, bookstore, and more.
