About Waterbury, Conecticut:

The city of Waterbury became famous as a center of brass manufacturing in the late 19th to early 20th centuries.  A large influx of workers from mainly Catholic countries such as Italy and Ireland naturally meant a growth in Catholic churches as well.

It is also the birthplace of Fr. Michael J. McGivney, who  saw the tragedy that followed the death of a breadwinner in such communities and founded the Knights of Columbus in nearby New Haven.

Traveling to Waterbury, Connecticut:

Waterbury is about 33 miles southwest of Hartford and 77 miles northeast of New York City. There is train service via Amtrak to the Waterbury station. There is also a commercial airport, Waterbury-Oxford Airport (OXC), served by several major airlines.
