Sec. of State Marco Rubio: Americans will be able to apply for passports ENTIRELY ONLINE

One of the familiar complaints about getting a passport here in the U.S. has been making an appointment and then standing in line for what seems like hours at the passport office before you can get your application processed. Soon, these complaints may become part of the past:

Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced that Americans will be able to apply for passports ENTIRELY ONLINE instead of spending HOURS and frustration doing it in-person. Part of a broader executive order, it aims to cut billions of hours lost to government bureaucracy by 2027, earning widespread praise as a long-overdue upgrade.

“No printing forms, no drug store hostage photo, no appointment, no line, no middleman…and REAL-TIME STATUS“, according to the U.S. State Department.

Starting in 2027, first-time passport applications go fully online via the new AI-powered America.gov platform, skipping paperwork, appointments, and waits for real-time updates. President Trump praised the shift from old hassles to simple digital steps, with redesigned gold-and-white packaging adding a touch of elegance to arrivals.
