About Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Indianapolis, Indiana:
Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish was established in 1875 by the Franciscan Province of St. Louis to accommodate the growing German population in Indianapolis. It was designed in Gothic Revival style by Brother Adrian Wewer, OFM. As such, it had such wonderful features as stained glass windows, decorative painting, hand-carved woodwork, beautifully crafted statues and altars. After a tragic fire in 2001, the church was, thankfully, restored to its former beauty,
It is staffed by Franciscan friars of the Sacred Heart Province of the Order of Friars Minor in St Louis, Missouri.
