Laguna, New Mexico: Saint Joseph of Laguna Mission

About Saint Joseph of Laguna Mission:

Constructed between 1699 and 1701, and dedicated to St. Joseph, this one story adobe church is a well-preserved example of a Spanish colonial mission. It is a fortress-like structure, with only a few openings and one small window in the front.  The mission is famous for its interior with original Laguna art and rare early Spanish paintings.  Today, it is under the auspices of the National Park Service and still remains an active parish.
