History of the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse:
Shortly after being installed as Bishop of La Crosse in 1995, Cardinal Leo Burke met with a group of people to discuss the establishment of a shrine here. A few years later a local family generously donated a 70 acre plot of land to be used as a shrine to Our Lady of Guadalupe.
The Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse, Wisconsin is faithful to the message of the Blessed Virgin Mary through her appearances on the American continent in Mexico in 1531, serves the spiritual needs of those who suffer poverty in body and soul.
About the Shrine in La Crosse:
It has become a place of prayer for many seeking the intercession of Our Lady. The shrine pays homage to the Blessed Virgin Mary, under the title of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of America and Star of the New Evangelization; and honors Our Blessed Mother as the Patroness of the Unborn.
The shrine is a place of hope and thanksgiving for the many people who visit here.
It includes a grotto of Saint Joseph the Workman (patron of the Diocese of La Crosse) and also Saint Kateri Tekakwithwa (patroness of Native North Americans) as well as a Memorial to the Unborn. The newest addition is a statue of Blessed John Duns Scotus in the entrance to the friary.

In addition to the chapel, the Shrine offers a restaurant and gift shop.
The daily program in includes the Rosary, Confessions, Mass and Eucharistic Adoration. On weekends there are two Masses: one the traditional Latin Mass and one in Spanish. Schedules vary between summer and winter so be sure to check out the website before planning your visit.
