Charleston, South Carolina: St. Mary of the Annunciation

About Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Charleston, South Carolina:

In 1789 Saint Mary’s Catholic Church became the first Catholic church to be established in Georgia and the Carolinas. The Church has been through rough times but has always survived.

You can admire the magnificent stained glass windows from the famous Mayer Glassworks of Munich, Germany. The organ is a Jardine pipe organ, built in 1874, and updated to take advantage of the wonderful acoustics of the Church.

Visitors to the city are welcome to tour the church, which is open daily. The Mass schedule and other events are posted on their website.

Note that they also offer the Anglican Rite Catholic Mass at 11:30 a.m. on Sundays.
