Beverly Hills, California: Church of the Good Shepherd

About Church of the Good Shepherd in Beverly Hills:

The church reflects the design of the early Catholic missions of California, and dates from 1923, shortly after the city of Beverly Hills was founded.  It is known for the number of Hollywood stars who attended Mass here as well as those who got married here, including Academy-award winner Loretta Young,  Elizabeth Taylor, Portuguese-Brazilian singer and actress Carmen Miranda,

Both Bing Crosby and Rudolph Valentino were among those who attended Mass here, and Valentino chose this church for his funeral in 1926. Gary Cooper’s funeral was also held here, where the actor had started to attend Mass after converting to Catholicism a few years before his death.

In 1961,  President John F. Kennedy attended Mass here.
