Mindanao, Philippines: Archdiocesan Shrine of Divine Mercy

Also known as Divine Mercy Hills, the Shrine hosts a 50-foot Divine Mercy statue. Divine Mercy Sunday was, as you know, instituted by Pope John Paul II as being the first Sunday after Easter. It is celebrated throughout the world. The Shrine began in 2005, when pilgrims started coming to the Divine Mercy Hills to join major celebrations such as the Feast of Divine Mercy, the Birthday of the Blessed Mother, the Feast of Christ the King and other activities throughout the year.

Confessions and Masses are offered daily….you can get their schedule from the website.

As you might expect, huge crowds gather here on the night before Divine Mercy Sunday and stay throughout the night as well as the next day.

Traveling to the Archdiocesan Shrine:

We are awaiting a response from the Shrine, but it appears that buses will run from nearby cities. The nearest airport is Laguindingan Airport, which serves much of Northern Mindanao.
