About the town of Sant’Angelo Lodigiano:
In a country full of beautiful churches, the Basilica here competes with the best of them, with magnificent works of art and frescoes throughout.
The town is also know for being the birthplace of St Frances Xavier Cabrini, who later became the first American-born Saint. There is also a museum here dedicated to Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini, located in what was her childhood home.
About the Basilica di Sant’Antonio Abate e Santa Francesca Cabrini (Basilica of St Anthony the Abbot and St Frances Cabrini):
The church is dedicated to Construction of this beautiful church began in 1928 and was completed ten years later. It is named after St Frances Xavier Cabrini, who later became the first American-born Saint, who was born in Sant’Angelo Lodgiano. A bone from St Frances Xavier Cabrini rests within a marble altar in the chapel dedicated in her name.

Located about 22 miles southeast of Milan. There is bus service from Milan, but no train service.

About the Museum of St. Frances Xavier Cabrini:
Her childhood home has been turned into a museum. Guides are available to show the various rooms in her house, such as her bedroom and play area. There are also displays of some of her clothes that she wore as a sister.

Traveling to Sant’Angelo Lodigiano:
The town is about 30 miles south of Milan. From Milan you can take a train as far as Melegnano and then transfer to a bus for the rest of the journey.
