Coppell, Texas: Saint Ann Catholic Parish

About Saint Ann Catholic Parish in Coppell, Texas:

Although remaining an active Parish, Saint Ann Catholic Parish in Coppell is undergoing renovations in 2025. Throughout the renovation, Mass will continue on campus. The Assembly Room will serve as the primary worship space, with live streamed overflow available in the Chapel, Narthex, Courtyard, Library, and Reception Room to ensure space for all.

In the event of inclement weather, the Cenacle will serve as the backup location.

The renovations at Saint Ann Catholic Parish:

Classical and medieval aesthetics, such as philosophers like Thomas Aquinas believed that the three transcendentals—truth, beauty, and goodness—are universal attributes of all being that ultimately reflect the nature of God.

They understood that God chooses to elevate us to intimately experience Him in divine life through experiencing these three transcendentals in the world around us. Early cathedral builders, inspired by these ideas, often designed churches to reflect the three transcendentals. They found that the three elements that were necessary in order to make a church beautiful were harmony, integrity, and radiance.

The renovated St. Ann Parish will beautifully express these three elements of harmony, integrity, and radiance, allowing it to not only become a home fit for a King but also become a place where we can come to intimately know God.

The renovations will feature stunning “Trompe l’œil” (Trick the Eye) architecture. This artistic technique, known for its ability to create the illusion of depth and expansiveness, will elevate the beauty of our church and draw our hearts and minds toward the divine. Trompe l’œil is a French word that means “fool the eye,” which cleverly aids in pointing the viewer beyond the material world to spiritual realities. In sacred spaces, Trompe l’œil was often used to depict heavenly scenes, such as angels, saints, or the glory of God, reminding the viewer of the truths of faith and the unseen spiritual realm. This form of art can create a unified aesthetic where painted details blend seamlessly with the physical architecture, fostering harmony, radiance, and a sense of divine order, revealing integrity.

When parishioners and visitors walk into St. Ann Parish, the hope is that contemplation of the three elements of harmony, integrity, and radiance in the physical church will allow them to experience Truth, Beauty, and Goodness—drawing them deeper into connection with God.

Progress as of August 2025:

The renovations began in May 2025 and are expected to take about six months.   Here is the latest as of August 2025:

The scaffolding is almost fully up!  Inside the church, crews are putting the final pieces in place. Meanwhile, at Conrad Schmitt Studios, the dome and Transfiguration mural are coming to life with incredible detail.

Although it has nothing to do with the renovations, here is an interesting video of the Pastor of Saint Ann, Father Leonard
