Grand Canyon, Arizona: Cristo Rey Chapel
About Cristo Rey Chapel:
In what perhaps is the smallest parish in the U.S., El Cristo Rey has 26 registered families, almost all of whom work for the park or services related to the park, such the local school, restaurants, etc.
However, since the chapel is located next to the Grand Canyon, the number of Mass attendees can swell on weekends as the tourists descend upon the park.
They have weekday Masses, Saturday vigil Masses in both English and Spanish, and two English-language Masses on Sunday. Please note: Arizona does not observe daylight savings time, so the local time here in the summer would be the same as Pacific daylight savings time (Los Angeles, for example).
Finding El Cristo Rey Chapel in Grand Canyon Village:
Although the park has a shuttle, El Cristo Rey Chapel is not on the park’s shuttle route. But it is an easy walk from several of the hotels, and they normally can direct you to the chapel.
Address: Albright Avenue (center from Boulder St) Grand Canyon, AZ 860
