Summit, New Jersey: Monastery of Our Lady of the Rosary

About the Monastery:

Just one hour from the hustle and bustle of New York City, you will find an oasis of peace and tranquility. The Sisters of the Order of the Dominicans run this Monastery that welcomes thousands of visitors each year.

The Monastery has Perpetual Adoration and visitors are welcome to pray in the Adoration Chapel from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily as well as reading of the Divine Office. There is also daily Mass at 7:15 a.m. and Sunday Mass at 7:30 a.m.

A special attraction here is a 400 year old copy of the Shroud of Turin, that was actually placed on the real shroud in Turin. This Shroud replica was commissioned by the Most Serene Infanta, Maria Maddalena of Austria, Grand Duchess of Tuscany, wife of Cosimo de’ Medici in April, 1624.

There is a gift shop offering many unique items crafted by the Nuns here, including soaps, wooden rosaries and more. We encourage you to pay a visit to the Monastery or click their online store to make a purchase to help their efforts.  They are running out of places for new novitiates and need to expand…..when is the last time you heard that in the U.S.?
