Debowiec, Poland: Minor Basilica of Our Lady of La Salette

 

About the Basilica of Our Lady of La Salette in Debowiec:

The Basilica honors Our Lady of La Salette as she appeared in La Salette, France in 1846.  The Missionaries of La Salette built the church in 1936, but it was not dedicated until 1941.  In 2012, it was elevated to the rank of Minor Basilica.

There are three sets of figures representing the revelation of Our Lady to three shepherd children in France.  If you look closely, you will see some bullet holes as a result of fighting in World War II.
