Vilnius, Lithuania: Vilnius Cathedral

The main attraction here are the remains of Lithuania’s patron saint, Saint Casimir. He was born from royalty in 1458, but despite being a prince from birth, he rejected worldly treasures in favor of serving the Lord.

He became known for his chastity (he refused an arranged marriage with the daughter of Emperor Frederick II) and was known for his generosity to the poor. Several apparitions that occurred after his death have been reported.

His tomb is here in a chapel in the Cathedral.

He died on March 4, 1484 and we celebrate his Feast Day on that day.
