Guayaquil, Ecuador: National Shrine of Divine Mercy

The history of the Shrine:

The most important Marian Shrine in Ecuador (Santuario Nacional de la Divina Misericordia) is a project begun in 2007, and continuing on to this date. Donations from local parishes and from around the world, have helped to make it a reality. The cornerstone of the Sanctuary was laid on September 6, 2009. In addition to the Sanctuary, it is planned to have a retreat house, Mary’s Way of the Cross, and underground crypt housing 2,000 double niches.
