About Our Lady Queen of Angels (La Iglesia de Nuestra Señora la Reina de los Ángeles) in Los Angeles, California:
The first church building in the city of Los Angeles was erected somewhere in the vicinity of what is now the corner of Cesar E. Chavez Blvd. (formerly Sunset Blvd.) and North Broadway Avenue. A chapel some 1,400 square feet begun in 1784 continued in used until December 8, 1822 when the church in its present site was dedicated in honor of Our Lady Queen of Angels. In the 1840’s the church was extensively remodeled. The history of the Old Plaza Church buildings properly depicts a constantly changing scenario. The reason for changes and restoration of these buildings have been motivated by the needs of the people they are intended to serve.
