In this day of the desire for home schooling rather than in-person schooling, we find a school here that combines both, along with a Catholic emphasis. Padre Pio Academy in Front Royal, Virginia is under the patronage of Saint Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, and is a hybrid school which combines the structure, guidance and community of a part-time Catholic school with the personal attention of homeschooling.
Their teachers work in partnership with parents to provide a quality Catholic education using Seton Home Study materials. Teachers present lessons in the main academic subjects for grades K-8, and offer a comprehensive high school curriculum for grades 9-12. All subjects are taught from a Catholic Perspective. Parents oversee the work that is assigned for the home days.
Padre Pio Academy offers class instruction, guided discussions, graded assignments and tests, and progress reports for student records. Classes are held three days each week (except as noted on the school calendar) at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Front Royal, Virginia.
Padre Pio Academy Grades K-8 offer Language Arts and Math each day for grades Kindergarten through Grade 8 with the third session rotating once a week between History, Science, and Religion. High School students may sign up for individual classes scheduled throughout the day.
The school day begins after the 8:30 Mass (optional) and students have a brief morning assembly that includes an opening prayer and Pledge of Allegiance before classes begin.
