Fennimore, Wisconsin: Saint Mary’s Catholic Church

About Saint Mary’s Catholic church in Fennimore, Wisconsin:

As noted on some of the other pages on our website, there is a trend toward taking the utilitarian churches so often found in the U.S. and restoring them to their original beauty.  An outstanding example of this is Saint Mary’s in Fennimore, done by Conrad Schmitt Studios.  We don’t necessarily bash the changes that came about from Vatican II…..some of them were perhaps necessary.  But stripping many churches of their natural beauty and making them in to utilitarian spaces was not a move in the right direction…at least so far as we are concerned…..any many others feel the same way.  The pendulum appears to be swinging back, as so often happens when an idea is taken to extremes.

Saint Mary’s is one of three churches that comprise Queen of All Saints Parish in the Diocese of Madison. The other two are Saint John Nepomucene in Castle Rock and St. Lawrence O’Toole in Mount Hope.

The main offices are located in Fennimore.
