About the Washington Retreat House:
Effective December 31, 2024, the Washington Retreat House has been permanently closed as a ministry of the Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement.The information below concerns the retreat center as it was previously operated.
The Washington Retreat House was owned and operated by The Franciscan Sisters of the Atonement. Since 1932 they have provided “a little space…where one can…seek God in peace and prayer…..in a spirit of hospitality, simplicity and solitude.
They would be delighted to host you or your group for a pilgrimage; for a retreat of 3, 5 or 7 days; a day of prayer; or a Conference or workshop!
Traveling to the Washington Retreat House in Washington, D.C.:
The Retreat House is located in Northeast D.C., next door to the John Paul II National Shrine, and up the street from Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, as you can see from the map below.
