The Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle in Washington, D.C., most commonly known as St. Matthew’s Cathedral, is the seat of the Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Washington.: Built in Renaissance Revival style, it serves as the cathedral for the Archdiocese of Washington, D.C.

Mosaic of St Matthew in the Cathedral of Saint Matthew, Washington DCIt’s notable for its beautiful mosaics, especially the one of Saint Matthew behind the main altar.  It is also known for its role in hosting the annual Red Mass for members of the legal profession.

Perhaps the most historic event to take place here was the funeral Mass for President John F. Kennedy.
