Volo, Illinois: Saint Peter’s Church

About Saint Peter’s Church in Volo, Illinois:

Saint Peter’s Church in Volo has the distinct honor of being staffed by the Canons Regular of St. John Cantius.  They offer the liturgy of the Roman Rite in the Ordinary Form of the Mass, in both English and Spanish, as well as the Extraordinary Form of the Mass, referred to as the Tridentine Latin Mass, which is offered daily.

The building itself had suffered from neglect over the years, but efforts are under way (and have been for some time) to restore their church to her true beauty.

They kicked off this series of restoration projects by first addressing the leaking windows before moving on to repairing the damaged plaster throughout the church. This gave way to their largest project to date, the painting of the church interior. With painting now complete, they are turning their sites lower – to the floors.

As of February 2024 meetings with contractors are underway and we have begun looking at materials. We are excitedly anticipating the work to begin very soon.
