About The Little Sisters Disciples of the Lamb:
The Institute of the Little Sisters Disciples of the Lamb, devoted to a life of contemplation, allows young women affected by Down’s Syndrome to fulfill their religious vocation. The fulfillment of this vocation is only possible because it is supported by able Sisters who have responded to the call of love for others, in dedicating their lives to God with their affected sisters to form one unique community with them.
The community was founded in 1985 and then instituted as a Religious Institute of contemplative life in 1999, by the Archbishop of Bourges, Monsignor Pierre Plateau. The Little Sisters live in a beautiful priory and their private chapel, built in 2010, is situated on rolling acreage within a park. The priory is surrounded by woodlands, and especially conducive to private prayer and contemplation.
On December 15, 2011 Monsignor Maillard, Archbishop of Bourges, officially approved the Constitutions of the Institute of the Little Sisters Disciples of the Lamb.
To quote from their website: “Guided by the wisdom of St Benedict, we teach our little disabled sisters the manual labour necessary for their development. We live poverty in putting ourselves at their disposal. With them, we share the work of everyday life. The office, adoration and the praying of the rosary are adapted to their rhythm and their capacities. In a spirit of silence, our prayer feeds every day on the Eucharist and on the meditation of the Gospel.”
Only through the generosity and support of sisters without Down syndrome are those with the disability able to realize their potential for religious vocations:

The Little Sisters have found their path: through their faith and prayers, and they create many wonderful things. The Little Sisters pursue activities such as cultivation of aromatic and medicinal plants, weaving, pottery and beekeeping.
