The Church of Our Lady of Fátima, is a distinctive Gothic-style church featuring flying buttresses, built by the Heralds of the Gospel (an international Catholic association known for its Marian devotion and sacred liturgical traditions). The project covers roughly 26,909 square feet (2,500 m²) and includes a 229-foot (70-meter) high tower, with seating for 850.The church is part of a larger planned religious complex that is expected to include a school and a museum of sacred art.
The solemn Mass and consecration of the new church was held on May 13, 2026 (the feast day commemorating the Marian apparitions at Fátima, Portugal), The consecration Mass was presided over by Auxiliary Bishop of San Salvador Monsignor Óscar Álvarez Orellana, with the participation of Monsignor Joseph Salim, acting apostolic nuncio, alongside priests and clergy. Sacred music was provided by the Heralds’ seminary choir from São Paulo, Brazil, creating an atmosphere of deep reverence throughout the ceremony.
The Mass was also attended by President Nayib Bukele, alongside First Lady Gabriela de Bukele, his mother Olga Ortez de Bukele, and members of his family as well as thousands of faithful.
