As of 2025 work is under way to bring train service by Brightline West between Las Vegas and Rancho Cucamonga, CA (near Los Angeles) along the I-15 corridor..

Both the Nevada and California state governments are assisting in financing Brightline in an effort to reduce the huge volume of passenger traffic along Interstate 15, especially on weekends. Brightline West will utilize rolling stock capable of speeds averaging 120 mph on the 218-mile route.  As of early 2025, engineering studies are still under way.  The route is expected to be in operation by 2028.

Brightline is currently operating its first passenger rail system connecting Central and South Florida with stations in Miami, Aventura, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton, West Palm Beach, and Orlando.
