Fort Pierce, Florida

About Fort Pierce, Florida:

Fort Pierce is a city on Florida’s Treasure Coast…..a scenic region along the Atlantic coast, known for its historic shipwrecks, natural preserves, and charming coastal towns.  Incorporated in 1901, Fort Pierce grew from a small pioneer/fishing settlement (with roots in the Seminole Wars-era fort) into a hub for citrus, fishing, cattle, and now tourism/light industry. Fort Pierce is also known as the Sunrise City due to its spectacular Atlantic sunrises.

The population of Fort Pierce, according to the 2020 census, was 47,297.  Recent estimates put it around 49,000 to 52,000.

The city blends historic buildings, a walk-able waterfront, and a laid-back coastal feel with growing arts and cultural scenes. Key economic sectors include tourism, fishing/commercial port activities, citrus/agriculture, and services. It retains a strong “Old Florida” character compared to more developed nearby areas, with revitalized downtown efforts.
