Victoria, Kansas: The Basilica of Saint Fidelis

About the Basilica of Saint Fidelis:

Although it is not actually a Cathedral, since it is not the seat of a bishop, it was nicknamed “the Cathedral of the Plains” in 1912 by the great orator William Jennings Bryant.  A little over 100 years later on February 21, 2014, the church was declared a minor basilica by Pope Francis.

The basilica welcomes over 16,000 tourists a year. It is open during daylight hours for anyone wishing to visit. An audio tour is available through four tour boxes located in the west vestibule and down the center aisle of the church.
