About Old Saint Patrick Oratory in Kansas City, Missouri:
Built in the latter part of the 19th century, the congregation celebrated its first Mass in the new church on Christmas 1875. At first there was no furnace in the church, which meant for some uncomfortable Masses in the winter; and, it was not until 1880 that the parish could afford to plaster the inside of the building. By the mid 20th century, the church’s brick and sandstone exterior had weathered many years of neglect and the interior was in great need of restoration. The architectural firm of William Heyer undertook the task of re-building the church.
Their work consisted of the design and coordination of new and restored interior architectural vision including woodworking, new wood flooring, restored plaster and new decorative painting, restored altars, communion rails, pews, and confessionals, new and restored lighting, and new sound systems.
In addition, they worked closely with the architect of record, Blue Bike Architecture, Inc., to coordinate the design and installation of new HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems. Dedicated and reopened in October 2008, Old St. Patrick Oratory is a beacon of Catholic tradition and beauty in the heart of Kansas City.
The parish operates under the auspices of the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest (ICKSP). The Institute of Christ the King celebrates the classical Roman Liturgy, the Latin Mass in its traditional form according to the liturgical books promulgated in 1962 by Pope Saint John XXIII. It is in full communion with Rome.

The Hall to Holiness at Old Saint Patrick Oratory:
While researching the immediate area for additional parking, there were conversations with VanTrust Real Estate company who owns much of the property around the Oratory. Though not for sale on the public market, VanTrust made an offer for the Institute to purchase the historic building known as the Ozark National Life / Old Public Library Building located west of the Oratory at 500 East Ninth Street. The Institute has accepted the offer and is purchasing the building for $3.4 million dollars.
With this real estate purchase by the Institute of Christ the King, the Oratory will own an entire city block in downtown Kansas City with 60,000 SF to be used for conferences, socials, classes and offices. This will give the Oratory five times the space at about 1/3 of the cost of the proposed new construction. The Hall to Holiness Campaign is a 5 year – $5 million effort.
