St John, Indiana: The Shrine of Christ’s Passion

About the Shrine of Christ’s Passion:

Located in the midst of corn fields less than an hour south of Chicago, a visit to the Shrine is one of the most powerful experiences you will find anywhere.

Begun in 2001, this amazing Shrine is an interactive display of the Passion of Christ, containing 40 life-size statues depicting the time from the Agony in the Garden all the way to the Resurrection.

Open year round, visitors can walk the half-mile path, pausing at the various stations to pray and reflect. At each station you have the opportunity to listen to a recording of a description of the scene along with a meditation.

Experience the feeling of actually participating in Christ’s Passion as you wander through the path. The pathway is illuminated in the evenings.

In addition to the traditional stations, you will find a statue of the Resurrection at the end of your journey. There is a large gift shop as well, open 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily. The shrine parking lot can hold 75 cars and 8 tour buses.

The Shrine is open daily from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Thursdays until 8:00 p.m.
