About the Shrine of Mary Help of Christians:
Located 30 miles north of Milwaukee, Wisconsin is the Basilica of the National Shrine of Mary, Help of Christians. Located in a beautiful area known as “Holy Hill” it offers many attractions to pilgrims and casual tourists alike.
This was the site of a small chapel, built in 1863, and dedicated to Mary, Help of Christians. Later, in 1906, the site was turned over to the Discalced Carmelites of Bavaria, and in 1931, they built a church and monastery here.
It was designated a Minor Basilica in 2006.
The Shrine offers two Masses daily, reconciliation, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and many more spiritual activities. Check out the calendar on their website for all activities.
There is also a gift shop and cafe for visitors. An estimated 500,000 people visit the shrine each year.
