Darien, Illinois: The National Shrine Museum of Saint Therese

About the Shrine Museum of Saint Therese of the Little Flower:

This powerful saint is honored here on the Carmelite Campus in Darien, Illinois, about 25 miles Southwest of Chicago. The Shrine includes a museum, chapel and gift shop.

The museum is noted for having the largest collection of the relics of Saint Therese outside of Lisieux, France. Among them is the original statue of Saint Therese from the 1920’s, a map of North America that the young Therese drew on a tambourine at the age of 12, her First Communion prayer book and many other items from her private life.

Perhaps the most noteworthy is a painting of Saint Therese by her blood-sister, Celine. A copy of that painting is available on prayer cards for sale at the Shrine.

The Shrine has a 27-minute video on the life and spirituality of Saint Therese.

Also notable are the many statues that are replicas of statues of Saint Therese at various shrines around the world that are dedicated to her.

The Chapel offers a place for quiet reflection as well as Masses held Monday through Friday at 11:30 a.m.

The Shrine is open Monday-Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
